Student Loan Payments Are Back—Here’s What to Know 

Federal Student Loan payments resumed on May 5th for nearly 2 million borrowers who were moved into repayment plans. This was particularly jarring since most weren't making payments under the Biden administration. Collections also began for loans that are in default. We've heard that many loan servicers have yet to begin collecting.

 

What you need to do:

 

  • Log into your student loan account

  • Contact your loan servicer to confirm your status

  • Begin making payments to avoid penalties or credit issues
